Oceanco Launch Brand New 106m Sailing Yacht Y712

Oceanco Launch Brand New 106m Sailing Yacht Y712

Revealing her sharp and and cutting bow, Oceanco launched their highly anticipated sailing yacht Y712- otherwise known as superyacht SOLAR- at an event close to Rotterdam earlier today.

Lowered into the water for the very first time today, sailing yacht Y712 ended months of speculation as she showcased her highly unique bow design.

Produced by lines intersecting through the hull, the triangular arrangement of the bow is sure to enhance the overall wave breaking capabilities of the yacht as well  as setting a precedent for future large sailing yachts.

Refined by the minds at Dykstra Naval Architects, the bow has until now been shrouded by a dedicated cover to maintain its secrecy.

Graced with an exceptional bow, Y712 looks set to be one of the most unique superyachts ever delivered from Oceanco

At 106m, Y712 is over 10m longer than Oceanco’s current largest delivery, the 95m/312ft motor yacht ‘Indian Empress’.

In addition to being their largest superyacht launch to date, Y712 is also sure to be one of the most unique builds carried out by Oceanco.

Designed by Nuvolari & Lenard- a partnership which has already produced results across the superyacht industry- Y712 is also believed to have an appropriately contemporary interior. What’s more, she is also believed to be capable of functioning on solar power.

It is, however, her unusual bow which will be at the centre of discussions for the time being.

Reminiscent of the axe bow featured on the 73m/239ft motor yacht PREDATOR delivered from Feadship in 2008, the angular bow of sailing yacht Y712 enhances performance as well as gifting the vessel with a truly distinctive aesthetic.

Creating additional forward space, it’s easy to imagine how tenders could be easily stored at this part of the sailing yacht.

The next phase ahead of the yacht’s delivery will be the stepping of the yacht’s three Dyna-Rig masts, a finishing touch which will call to mind the styling of the iconic and multi award-winning 88m/289ft sailing yacht ‘Maltese Falcon’.

Whilst sailing yacht Y712 is not believed to be available for charter, please feel free to take a look at all Oceanco superyachts which are available for charter.
