superyacht ALFA NERO's swimming pool converts into a helipad

How Did Superyacht 'Alfa Nero' Get its Helipad?

When quizzed with the question of “What is the weirdest/craziest request you have had from a client during the building of his yacht?,” CEO of Oceanco Marcel Onkenhout was reminded of one particular request when working on award-winning 81m/267ft superyacht 'Alfa Nero.'

The surprising origins of Alfa Nero's helipad were revealed by Onkenhout, commenting how "At the early stages of the design our Naval Architects, the Designers and the Owner were discussing the position of the heli-deck and the swimming pool. No one could agree and finally the owner stood up from the table and declared “Make the pool larger and we will land the helicopter on top of it!”

The revelation worked in the end, the motor yacht now boasts an exceptional set-up, featuring a Nuvolari-designed Beach Club aft with a glass-bottomed swimming pool with a floor that be fully or partially raised to transform for a variety of needs, whether it be for helicopter transportation or simply to use as a dancefloor.
