Filming for hugely successful ‘Skyfall’ began in 2011, a year after REGINA was launched from the Medyat shipyard in Bodrum, Turkey. Although the storyline was centred around James Bond, played by Daniel Craig and his co-star Sévérine played by actress Bérénice Marlohe sailing off the coast of China, the scenes were actually shot around the picturesque Turkish bays of Fethiye.

Referred to as ‘Chimera’ in the movie, REGINA perfectly reflects the impeccably sleek style that James Bond is famed for. Her modern, high performance design combined with her sophisticated sailing yacht exterior create a beautifully high-spec feel on board whilst her spacious interior is complimented by dark, glossy woods and elegant furnishings.

The filming experience was a first for REGINA and her crew and described by her Captain as something that presented ‘different and sometimes, quite unusual demands’. For the purposes of the movie there were some changes that needed to be made, these included layout changes such as the main salon which was transformed into Bond Girl Sévérine’s bedroom.

However, disruption was kept to a minimum and the production team including the film Producers Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, as well as the actors enjoyed the yacht so much that they held an impromptu dinner on board when they had finished.

REGINA’s elegant living areas

REGINA sleeps up to 12 guests in six generous staterooms, including three master suites which each feature separate seating areas and dressing rooms. At the hub of her living and relaxation areas is a large open-plan salon, boasting sleek white L-Shaped seating, a dining table and a beautiful Grand Piano, befitting of the chic entertaining that James Bond would enjoy. Glossy mahogany, high ceilings and plenty of windows emphasise the sense of space while artwork and intricate design details ensure luxury and comfort is felt throughout.

Out on deck there are several sunbathing, al fresco dining and shaded relaxation areas provided. The sunbeds and sofas on the aft and forward deck were actually re-upholstered in red for ‘Skyfall’ but were promptly returned to a more neutral tone after filming to appeal to wider tastes. The modern take on traditional sailing yacht elegance continues in the styling outdoors and whether guests are soaking up the sun or dining under the stars, REGINA offers the ultimate platform for an unforgettable Mediterranean vacation.

Since the release of ‘Skyfall’ REGINA has continued to build her reputation as a charter yacht of the highest calibre and has become a favourite of other Hollywood A-list’s such as Salma Hayek. She is available for charter at weekly rates starting from $120,000, see the full details and take a photo tour here.
